Starlink – World’s most advanced broadband satellite internet

What is Starlink Internet?

Starlink is the world’s first and largest satellite constellation using a low Earth orbit to deliver broadband internet capable of supporting streaming, online gaming, video calls, and more.

With Starlink, users can engage in activities that historically have not been possible with satellite internet. Starlink’s high-speed, low-latency service is made possible via the world’s largest constellation of highly advanced satellites operating in a low orbit around the Earth.

Leveraging advanced satellites and user hardware coupled with our deep experience with both spacecraft and on-orbit operations, Starlink delivers high-speed, low-latency internet to users all over the world.

Most satellite internet services come from single geostationary satellites that orbit the planet at 35,786 km. As a result, the round trip data time between the user and satellite—also known as latency—is high, making it nearly impossible to support streaming, online gaming, video calls, or other high data rate activities.

Starlink is a constellation of thousands of satellites that orbit the planet much closer to Earth, at about 550km, and cover the entire globe. Because Starlink satellites are in a low orbit, latency is significantly lower—around 20 ms vs 600+ ms.

Each Starlink satellite uses 4 powerful phased array antennas and 2 parabolic antennas to provide increased quantity. Efficient ion thrusters, powered by krypton, enable Starlink satellites to orbit raise, maneuver in space, and deorbit at the end of their useful life. Starlink is the first krypton-propelled spacecraft ever flown. Starlink satellites feature a single solar array, significantly simplifying the system. Solar cells are standardized, and easy to integrate into the manufacturing process.

Starlink is the first commercially available phased array antenna. Your Starlink Kit arrives with everything you need to get online in minutes including your Starlink, WiFi router, cables, and base. It is self-orienting and connects in minutes as long as it has a clear view of the sky. Starlink can withstand extreme cold, heat, hail, sleet, heavy rain, gale-force winds, and even rocket engines.

Starlink not only leads the industry in innovations to reduce satellite brightness but also in on-orbit debris mitigation—meeting or exceeding all regulatory and industry standards.

This amazing product is launched by SpaceX. SpaceX is leveraging its experience in building rockets and spacecraft to deploy the world’s most advanced broadband internet system. As the world’s leading provider of launch services – and the only provider with an orbital class reusable rocket – SpaceX has deep experience with both spacecraft and on-orbit operations.

Manage Starlink on the Mobile App

The Starlink app helps you customize settings, receive updates, access Support, and see real-time performance data like download speed, latency, and uptime. Download the app to determine the best setup location before installation. Starlink needs a clear view of the sky to connect to satellites.

Is Starlink Internet available in Pakistan?

PTA issued an official notice in January 2022 advising its users against placing pre-orders for Starlink. This is because there is no legality of the company. PTA regulates all the traffic in Pakistan. Starlink in its current state is completely tethered which can cause a huge challenge for the rising cyber criminal activity.

According to Pakistani YouTubers who have tried and tested the hardware for Starlink confirm that the device does not currently function in Pakistan. This is due to the fact that there are no satellites in the area. Starlink has a plan of complete deployment in about 9 years with 50% deployment in 4-5 years. India is a big market, and since Pakistan is a neighbouring country, it might not be long since we start seeing the deployment of Starlink in Pakistan.
